I understand that I have made the choice for my child to attend the Desert Thunder K-8 Dual Language Program. I have been informed that the journey towards bilingualism, biliteracy, and multiculturalism is a rigorous, long-term commitment and Desert Thunder is committed to providing a K-8 Dual Language experience for my child. 

As a parent of a Dual Language student, I understand that:  

  • My child will receive 50% of instruction in English and 50% of instruction in Spanish in Elementary (K-6). 
  • Dual Language Program is a rigorous program and attendance is a key component for my child’s success in the program. I will ensure that my child attends school on time every day unless he/she is ill or we have a family emergency.  If my child arrives late or he/she is picked up early, he/she is missing instruction that might be difficult to make up on another day. 
  • I will help my child develop literacy and content knowledge in English and Spanish by using resources at home made available to me by my child’s teachers.
  • Once enrolled in the Dual Language Program, if my child is struggling academically, I agree to discuss interventions with his/her teachers to ensure support in both languages.

Entiendo que he decidido que mi hijo/a asista al Programa de Lenguaje Dual Desert Thunder K-8. Se me ha informado que el camino hacia el bilingüismo, la lectoescritura bilingüe y el multiculturalismo es un compromiso riguroso y a largo plazo, y Desert Thunder se compromete a brindarle a mi hijo/a una experiencia de Lenguaje Dual desde K-8.

Como padre/madre de un/a estudiante de Lenguaje Dual, entiendo que:

  • Mi hijo/a recibirá el 50% de la instrucción en inglés y el 50% en español en la primaria (K-6).
  • El Programa de Lenguaje Dual es un programa riguroso y la asistencia es clave para el éxito de mi hijo/a. Me aseguraré de que mi hijo/a asista a la escuela puntualmente todos los días, a menos que esté enfermo/a o tengamos una emergencia familiar. Si mi hijo/a llega tarde o lo/la recogen temprano, estará perdiendo clases que podría ser difícil de recuperar otro día.
  • Ayudaré a mi hijo/a a desarrollar la lectoescritura y el conocimiento del contenido en inglés y español utilizando los recursos en casa que me proporcionen sus maestros.
  • Una vez inscrito en el Programa de Lenguaje Dual, si mi hijo tiene dificultades académicas, acepto discutir intervenciones con sus maestros para garantizar apoyo en ambos idiomas.
